What is Web Hosting?

Web Hosting is the “hosting” or “posting”
of your web site contents on a server that is connected to the
internet, such that anyone in the world could see your web site.
What is VPS and what can it do
for me? [top]
A Virtual Private Server is functionally identical to a dedicated
server. Each VPS hosted on the “host” server has it’s
own operating system, configuration files, applications, databases;
all completely isolated from other VPS users. You receive root
access to your server, and have full control of your machine.
This is the perfect choice for business owners and professionals
in need of full control of their hosting. With a VPS, each individual
server runs its own isolated services and applications. Another
user’s VPS will never affect your own server’s performance,
stability, or uptime. The great thing about Virtuozzo is that

VPS vs. Dedicated Server
Virtual Private Servers function exactly as do
dedicated servers at a fraction of the cost. Similarities include
the following. Both stand alone servers and VPS use their own
CPU, Ram, have their own IP addresses, disk-space, and full “root”
access is provided, this is your own server. Although many VPS
may reside in the same server, each VPS is totally isolated from
others on the same node and are unaffected by the actions of the
other VPS. This is ensured by Virtuozzo’s highly sophisticated
resource management system. No one VPS is allowed to use all of
the server’s resources as there is a maximum and minimum
level of resources allotted to each VPS. However if needed, Virtuozzo
allows VPS to burst to the maximum resource level available at
that instance.

What is a domain name?

Any website would need (ideally) to have a domain name registered,
so that people could go to your site via a name, rather than an
IP address. For example, before domain names, http://www.EuroVPS.com
would have been http://77.235.32.3. As you might imagine having
domain names simplifies the internet ten fold. You can register
a domain name with EuroVPS.com at a low price, with extremely
fast turnaround on DNS updates. DNS updates could take 48-72 hours
with most providers, with EuroVPS we update our records immediately,
most customers report DNS changes being activated immediately
with our system.
How do I register a domain name?

When signing up for your web hosting, VPS server, or reseller
account, you can sign up for your domain name. Pricing is varied
based on what type of domain extension you choose (.com, .net,
.nl, .de, etc)
What exactly is space and data
transfer? [top]
Disk space is precisely as it sounds: the space allotted to your
account for storing of files and databases. Data transfer is the
amount of data that you are allotted per month to transfer from
our servers to your web viewers. For example, say you have a site,
www.widgets.com, which has 10 JPG's, each of which is 100KByte,
and 1000 viewers on the web downloaded each of your JPG's, your
total Data Transfer used for that period would be: (10 x 100KByte)
x 1000 viewers = 1,000,000KBytes = 1GB. A very popular site could
use over 300GB per day, whereas a personal site or a basic business
page would only use 500MB to 1GB per month. It all depends on
what type of site you have. Feel free to contact our sales department

Can I see who is looking at my
site, what pages are popular etc? [top]
Most definitely, we offer several log analyzer packages with our
various hosting solutions, each of which is very capable of providing
you with a graphical representation of your bandwidth usage, where
your bandwidth is going, what pages are most popular, how long
visitors are staying on your site, who is looking at your site
(with full DNS reverse lookup). Logs are kept on file for 6 months.
What are PHP, ASP, .net, Perl,
Coldfusion, etc? [top]
These are programming languages that sites and or scripts are
written in. Our servers are equipped to handle all of these languages,
however certain plans are limited to PHP/Perl, whereas others
are directed towards ASP applications, etc. These languages form
the "core" of what we call a dynamic site. These sites
typically use Databases as well, discussed further below.
What is MySQL or MS SQL?

These are relational database server side packages that process
requests against a database hosted on the server. For example,
you could have a database with 50,000 products and prices, and
a search form on your web site which would pull information from
this database. The database can be easily updated from a GUI client
such as MySQL-Front or MS Access for quick updates to pricing,
descriptions, etc. This is truly a revolution in the web industry,
as more and more web sites and systems are starting to make use
of databases.

How do I use PayPal?

PayPal is a payment system with which you could pay anyone with
an email address securely using your credit card or bank account.
